Squeaks a/c off, stops when a/c on?

Squeaks a/c off, stops when a/c on?
I have a 99 and there is a squeaking sound from pass side belt area when a/c is off. When you turn the a/c on it stops. What does this indicate?

You may have some rust build up between the a/c compressor pulley and the compressor actuator plate (its the round plate that you see,when the a/c is off and engine is running) and then when you turn on the a/c it spins withe the pulley....it's really nothing to worry about...mine is the same & does it ..I just ignore it ....
