Sputter and backfiring! Help please!
Ok so I'm experiencing some problems in my 96 xj. On cold starts it has problems starting. It takes 4-6 seconds while trying to crank it over while pumping the gas. After I get it started i can smell how rich it is. I put it in gear to drive it, it sputters, it won't drive over 2500 rpms, and it backfires repeatedly. When I come to a stop it idles lower then it should. To fix the problem temporarily I unplug an injector for 10 seconds then replug it and it drives perfect. On hot starts it cranks up fine but still does all the above. I've replace 2 injectors that the computer said was bad, replaced the PCM with a junk yard one, upstream o2 brand new, IAC brand new, tps brand new. I can't seem to figure it out. Please some one help!

You can pump the gas peddle all you want on a fuel injected car/truck and it does absolutly no good... it does not pump gas in....take to Autozone have them run a scan on it.. o2 is my guess....

The only good playing with the gas pedel will do for you is when you hold it to the floor then it will cut off 90% of the fuel given to the engine at start up.

P1391 is "Intermittent loss of Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) or Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP)" Try changing the first one, it's right inside the distributor should be easy enough. If that doesn't solve it then try changing the CPS both would make your engine run like crap and I think if one is going bad the computer might limit RPM's as a fail safe in case the engine will damage itself at high RPM's

and "open circuit" means that it doesn't have current going all the way through it, could mean an exposed, grounded wire for injector one
EDIT- LOL never mind he had these problems three months ago it's probably fixed!!
