I would think a light coat from a spray can would just make a bunch of paint dots on your tail light. Try it out on some extra plexy or something and tell us how it turns out.

Niteshades is the only way to go. Plus, if you get it too dark you can wet sand it till you get a desirable (and legal!) level. Had to test mine outside a few times before I got a level of tint I was happy with.
Not trying to stir stuff up or be a smart A, but just out of curiosity. Why would you want to reduce the amount of light your headlights and taillights put out? Speaking from the viewpoint of someone who drives a 120,000 lb crane down the road on a regular basis, I like people to use their turn signals and have bright, clear lights so I know what they're planning on doing. It takes me a long distance to get that rig slowed down so I like as much warning as possible to help me keep from running someone over!
Please don't black out your lights. Us guys in the big rigs have a hard enough time dealing with the normal dimwits on the road without our Jeepin' friends adding to the problem!

I have my lights VHT's and you can still in the day time clearly see mine from 500 feet in the bright sun (legal limit). at night they are extremely bright as well. I WILL NEVER tint my head lights unless i went to an HID light. but all my other ones are done...
I do agree DO NOT go to dark.

Did VHT on mine and have had cops behind me night and day and none of them did anything I did one coat and it turned out great looks goods and still lets lots of light through. I picked mine up at NAPA it was $18 Probably could have found it cheaper had I looked but well I didn't
