You tap it out with a hammer and small drift. If this is the front D30, depending on which gearing you have, you may need to remove the carrier from the Ring gear.

Ouch, I hope no pieces got into the Ring and pinion. You might want to pull the ring and carrier, just to be sure you get all of the debris out anyway. make the ring and carrier so that they go back in the same position as when removed.

At one end of the centerpin there will be a rollpin that goes through it and the carrier to retain the assembly. It's a tight squeeze trying to drive it out in the axlehousing.
Theres an off chance that the rollpin will actually be a small bolt, but i think thats early XJ.
If you decide to remove the carrier pull the bearing caps off and keep them same side and top/bottom for reinstall. These are line bored and must be reinstalled the same way. If you clean the cover gasket material off you can also see stampings that will match the bearing caps to aid reassembly if you accidentally get them mixed up.

After you get the carrier out I would go and get some solvent or you can use paint thinner, and clean out that rear end sparkling clean, and the get some goggles and blow that sucker out with some compressed air until there is no signs of any shiny stuff, "old gear pieces". You can also use brake clean after the solvent clean to make double sure all metal is out of the housing.
The reason behind all this cleaning is that the old metal will wear out your new bearings and ring and pinion super fast and you will be doing that job all over.
