Well after many months of working on the xj we had it nearly ready to go. Driving down the road the rear end was making some angry noises so rather than deal with rebuilding the stock d35, we picked up a Spicer 35 from the yard in good shape with rear discs.

We were debating between that or a c8.25, but the yard only had the spicer with discs in the correct ratios so that is what we went with. For $200 delivered, we were pretty stoked.

Now I am not 100% what vehicle this came from so some guidance there would be awesome. I know its out of a 96+ YJ from what we asked for from the yard. It has spring perches so it was def in something with rear springs not packs.

Is there a good write-up for swapping in this type of axle somewhere? I did a fair amount of searching and didn't come up with anything since everything for d35 or spicer 35 says they are all the same. This is our first truck project so this axle swap stuff is all new haha!

After even more searching we have identified it as a ZJ d35. So back to the yard, going to try and score the brakes off this one and get a chrysler 8.25.
