Default Speedometer replacement

My speedo guage of my electronic 93 XJ is bad. I found a couple at the pick n pull but the miles are nowhere close to mine. Is there anything I can do to set it back to the proper mileage of my truck?

Iirc you don't change the gauge, you just go to the dmv and get a slipof paper that states original mileage and such.

In order to change the mileage with the DMV is a huge process and it requires a shop to do the work and sign off a paper. Plus the fact that it will bother me looking at an odometer with 200k. I actually may have got my hands on a cluster with my miles from a member on another forum.

i think with the newer chrysler models, the odo is fixed and you can't roll them back.
but with my 90 xj, i took mine apart and can roll the odo to 00000 if i wanted to.
all you do is remove a small e clip on the odo roll pin and just like the old bicycle locks, you can just flex the number roll off the gear and can turn it freely to whatever number you want.

i wouldn't go through the dmv if you don't want the paperwork and aggravation.

Thanks for the input! If I can't get a hold of one with close mileage I will mess with the broken one first and see if I can't roll em to where they have to be.
