I need to change my speedometer. My speedometer has a top speed 200 kmh. Can i fit a speedometer with lower top speed? I have changed my gear to 4.55!

AFAIK, you'd need to use another Cherokee speedo, but either one has the top speed of 85MPH, or about 130-something KPH. At least that's in my experience....I've used both in mine.

To compensate for the change in gearing you need to change out the speedometer drive gear, this is in the transfer case on the Vehicle Speed Sensor. The various speedometers work the same.

For future note, please always include your XJ's year in your posts. There are massive differences in gauge clusters.

Facing the electrical issue would be better than just swapping the cluster. Im thinking your issue Will still be there with a new cluster
