It could be that, even though you replaced the sensors, there is an issue. Check the speedo gear, and check the plug. Mine was fine, just broke the thumb tab off of it, and it never read my speed and odometer never changed. Check the plug going into the sensor.

What fuse is it. And what do I do if the thumb tab broke?

Default transmission!!

I just wanted to post this because I can remember going crazy with my own speedometer odometer problems.

I drive a 94 jeep cherokee. 2 years ago my S & O went out.

Changed the sensor. Nope.

Checked wiring panel. Nope.

Took it to mechanic...transmission.

I will try and explain it as best I can since I don't know much about transmissions.

There is a small gear that is (at least in my jeep) is made of tough plastic. When they opened up the transmission case the gear literally came out in pieces. Thus, the speed nor the miles traveled were being signaled.

I hope this saves someone some headache cuz it drove me nuts for days.

I thing the previous poster may be talking about the speedo gear, which is right under the sensor. When you get bigger tires, your supposed to change it so your speedometer stays accurate. (bigger tires cover more ground per rotation, so your going faster than the speedometer says, and cops LOVE that.) if the thumb tad is broken, you will have to by another one (New is best here) and splice it into the wires. When splicing, do it really good and heat shrink and tape it real good because the last thing you want is room for rusting and corrosion. When I broke mine, i thried fitting it down real tight and fiberglassing it in place. It was tight, but didn't work... A new one fixed it for good.

Good luck

Anyone know how to test the sensor the speedo gear attaches to in the back of the tcase? I'm having issues with my speedometer and I'm pretty sure its either a wiring issue coming from the speedo sensor in the tcase or the speed sensor in the tcase itself. I'm pretty sure it's not the gauge cluster wiring harness. I have a 98 cherokee 4.0 5 speed.
