I am having trouble with my speedometer ....I have changed out both sensors on the transmission, swapped out the speedometer complete cluster...All that did was give me lower mileage so I swapped it back to the old one... I changed the computer with the three plugs , in the firewall of the engine compartment , but that ended up being a no fix either.i put the old computer back in and the guy gave me my money back on the computer. I changed the clock spring ,high cost piece of ribbon and plastic still does not work... pulled the horn relay out to make sure the voltage is not back feeding thru the relay in the fuse area inside the passenger floor ...still does not work . changed the throttle body sensor and ..again that dont work..About at the end of my rope...it is not that my speedometer dont work it just goes crazy going down the highway at sixty it will jump all over the place anywhere from zero to 120 MPH and everywhere in between... Dose anybody have any other ideas ?????

 

I'm not sure which sensors exactly you're referring to, but the sensor that tells the speedometer what to display is located on the transfer case here:

 

I changed that one, it is on the tail end of the transmission ,Yea , also cleaned the one on the front of the transmission,right by the bell housing on driver side , I believe i was checking for voltage on it that someone had said to check for,Oh yes I also checked the gear on the bottom of this sensor you show a photo of.It looked brand new, the gear did...any other ideas are welcome..

 

Check both speedo gears. There is one on the end of that sensor, and another on the output shaft. One or both may be missing teeth.

Also I noticed that the full time 4 wheel drive light is on also ...dont know what that is about but I do not have it in in four wheel drive ,unless a problem is going on there causing my speedometer to mess up ??? so many question an so few answers..

 

both of them gears look good , the one on the new sensor and the one held into the transfer case ,,,Also I dont know if this means anything but ever sense this all started...I have noticed the four wheel drive light on the cluster on speedometer upper (green) right side.. and my heater fan only has one speed , high..........no mid or low speed just high...
