my speedometer stop working yesturday wild driving home from work, then started working again 2 min later. today it happened again. dose anyone know what the problem is? the air bag light came on then went off as the the speedomter turn on and off both turn on and off at the same time. could it be the computer or loose wire?

it is a 2001 jeep cherokee sport.

I would check the wire connection and the gear on the tail shaft to make sure it is meshing properly

Yeah, checking that the right range is set for the speedo gear would be my first check. Where it goes on the transfer case, pull the gear assembly out and take note of the number of teeth the gear has (stamped right on it). Then look at the housing and you should see serveral ranges of numbers (i.e. 27-31, 32-38, etc) around the housing. When you put the housing back in, make sure the range that your gear falls in (i.e. 32-38 if you have a 34 tooth gear) is pointing almost straight down in the 6 o'clock position. Rinstall everything and give it a shot.
