speaks...
if the specs you're looking for are size...
front door - 5.25" will fit with no cutting. 6.5 with a little work.
front lower dash panel and rear hatch lid should accept up to 4"
and if you have the factory sound bar across the back ceiling it'll take 5.25
as well.
not really sure about mounting depth but any standard diameter speaker you buy should fit without any trouble or "bottoming out".
hope that helps

i'm in the market for a new radio my self. i'm not really sure what would be causing the problems you're experiencing maybe a loose ground or the on off switch to the radio itself is faulty. you could probably pick up a factory unit from the parts yard for real cheap or just bite the bullet and upgrade - i plan on getting a pioneer cd with rear input for an ipod - probably run me around $150 minimum for the features i'm wanting. uhhhh check your ground wire if that looks good start hunting for a new head unit...
best of luck!

EBAY ALL THE WAY! Make sure you bid on a new head unit (I don't trust used electronics). My wife got me a top of the line Clarion unit (ALL the bells and whistles including bluetooth, XM, Sirius, Phone interrupt, IPod control and such) for under $100.00. If you want I can find the sellers store on ebay

my hillbilly friend...
let me tell you what my bud has in his '87 cherokee 2 door... head unit is an alpine cd player, front door speakers alpine 2 ways with pioneer tweeters wired in parallel at the top of the A pillars and an 8 in bazooka tube in the rear with one alpine amp pushing everything === pretty straight foreward system, and can be done for relatively cheap. 5 speakers 3 channels and sounds incredible. food for thought...

to be honest if you're not hooking up your speakers to an amp just go with the best deal you can find......once you hook up that amp then you can get picky.....

Go with Focals or Morels and a JBL power 4 channel amp.. if you got cash to blow and dont want a sub setup with it, if not and you ebay like a **** to get a good deal.
Get a pioneer 4 channel amp ... cheap and Pioneers or Infinity references all around. The infinitys will give you more "bass" if your not pusing a sub... an infinity basslink can be tossed in back and give you better "bass" and has its own and and is easy to install for about 200 bucks on ebay too.
