My 1999 Cherokee SE passenger door speaker did not work. I accessed the speaker and tested for voltage with the radio on. There was none. I assumed that the wire had broken around the door in the rubber boot thing. What I was going to do was just run a new wire from the wires coming out of the back of the radio to the speaker. Well the wires at the speaker are sky blue red stripe, sky blue brown stripe. The wires coming out of the back of the radio are not any of those colors and they are bundled up nice and tight going into the dashboard. This is the original radio and harness it seems. I looked up a color code diagram and it said the right speaker wires were purple one leg, dark blue/ red, the other. Do these 2 wires splice into the light blue wires deep in the bowels dashboard? Thought I could cut two wires and hook up a new one...
on an aside there were the same light blue color wires going to a plug to nowhere right next to the right door mirror plug. What is this for?
Thanks for your help.
Kevin.

The plug near the mirror could be for the Infinity Tweeters that come with the Infinity Sound System that a better optioned Jeep could have.
My understanding is that most, if not all, '97 and up XJ's have them even if they did not come with the Infinity Sound System.
And if so they do have a signal going to them. The tweeters are a somewhat common plug and play thing that guys do.
Will operate like they should even if the Jeep does not have the Infinity Sound System.

I checked for an amp under the back seat and there was not one. I did just check for continuity through my speaker wires at the door and I had continuity between the sky blue/black wire and the blue/ red wire on the grey plug that goes into the back of the radio. (Should have done that in the first place) It seems that the two speaker wires do not go directly from the speaker through the door rubber boot thing but travel back deeper into the door in the wiring harness. Also there is another sky blue/red wire going to the door lock plug. Very confusing
