If you got the old ones out and the new ones are stripped, then go get 2 new plugs...

Take one of the other plugs that isn't stripped out, and try it in one of the ones that stripped the plug (very carefully). If it's just the plugs that are stripped, replace them. If the threads on the block are stripped you have bigger issues.

wait i read this wrong, did you tighten the plugs with your hand and then use a socket/wrench? sounds like they got in crooked and got cross threaded. or they are the wrong size plugs

I probably cross threaded them. Ive got pretty big gorilla hands and couldnt get in there with just my hands. I can put the old ones back in and go get new ones. They should still work id immagine. I got autolite plugs. Are they known for being crap?

I run Autolites in mine, I view sparkplugs as throwaway parts. You get your use out of them and then chunk em... Run just fine in my Beep!

I run e3 spark plugs in mine. got 2 mpg better when i did the swap and engine ran a whole lot smoother and had better throttle response.

I had autolites in before and it didn't run near as smooth as it does with the E3's

Got some other new spark plugs in it. They all seated in just fine now. New air filter. New cap and rotor. I know 100 percent that i got all the wires in the correct spot. The jeep may have been doing this before but i just now noticed. Its doing a sputtering hiccuping kind of thing while idling. Smooth smooth put put *jeep shakes* Then back to smoothe. It does it rarely while going 25 or under. Anything over and it doesnt do it or i dont notice it. Also ran lucas oil fuel injector cleaner through it with no improvement. However i did notice my throttle response is MUCH better now. =/

I am just going to throw this out there Crimmy, not knowing your mechanical experience.

To put in new plugs, never use a ratchet to get them started. Always use the socket and an extension alone to hand start them and set them down. Once they are seated, then tighten them with a ratchet.

Yes i have no mechanical experience... But im trying to learn so pleae take it easy on me. I dont think the threads on the block were damaged. The new plugs second set went in just fine when i used the advice about starting them by hand and then tightening them in. Im going to pull the plugs again tomorrow to make sure i didnt damage any of the other ones. Would using 2 different types of plugs cause this?

my old 88 had that same stupid hic up like a miss, but it wasn't. i stuck that motor in a 94 and the noise went away. i was told it was caused by a vacuum leak so go look for one of those

One more reason the old school 4.0L rocks. Cast iron threads are harder than the spark plugs threads. If it had been an aluminum head (soft), probably been all she wrote.
