The newer XJ's like NGK, but for yours, get the Champion coppers. XJ's like it simple.

K.I.S.S. Expensive plugs can muck it all up. Go with OEM, Champions.

NGK V POWER's or the iridiums, are the way to go, use them in my sled the xj and the durango. my 88 XJ hated the champions. just be aware everyone is going to have an opinion

NGKs are just fine in any 4.0.

I agree. Our 2001 XJ Sport specs Champion coppers, and they work great. Stick with what works.

Use the Champion part number specified under the hood, the Renix years were something like RC9LYC or RC9ECC or something like that, OR like cruiser says NGK coppers.

In the later model years Chrysler actually superseded Champion RC12ECC with NGK ZFR5N. I've noticed no difference between the two in my 4.0, but the NGKs work out to a little cheaper for all 6.

I had to buy the Champions 1 or 2 at a time. No one around here carries them anymore.
Going to find the NGK's to see if that's my #6 misfire

Yeah... Stupid Crappy. 2.99 for those or 2.07 for the NGKs. Funk that noise. Your Champions probably aren't the issue if they're newish unless one of them is dead, IIRC the change was because the Champions didn't last long enough with the waste spark from the coil packs.

Last time I put Champion Coppers in (last year) I think I paid $1.19 each. My they've gone up lately...
