Just did mine with 6.5s. Remove the 2 rear screws on both sides on the rear upper moldings and drop them a little.. Then remove the center light cover and the two screws inside.Thats it. Just push the left side of the bar forward and slide it out. 10-15 minutes. The speakers are held in with plastic rivets you can cut with a pair of cutters

I have been wanting to replace my speakers and while at it relocate the sound bar up over the rear seats.

I guess you can slide it anywhere. Wires come in from left side. You will see the impression of the bar if you move it and the head liner is cut out where the rear interior light is. 5.25s fit right in. 6.5s also fit with 5 min. of filing and sanding.

I just did mine two days ago too and when I cut the plastic rivets out, I simply went tothe hardware store and got eight 1/2 inch long bolts and locknuts to match that fit the speakers perfect. Be easy tightening them though. The fiberglass might crack easily. I never had a problem but I could see it breaking if the conditions were right.

I used Polk MM651s 6.5". It took me 5Min. each with a half round file to fit them in. Even the grills fit perfectly.
