Someone Keyed my 2001 XJ
Well, the title sort of says it all. In the parking lot of my apartment last night, someone dragged something sharp right alone the the top side of the grill on the front. It goes the entire width of the truck. I think it's just down to the primer, but I can feel the indent with my finger. It screams white in the sun. The color is blue, and it's completely stock. I don't keep it too nice as I do a ton of beach driving and the jeep is used to do a lot of work, but the scratch sticks way out.
My question is, what can be done about this? I've never tried to touch up a huge scratch like this. I don't need anything but this line repaired. What are my options in terms of doing this myself, or having it professionally done in terms of costs.
All replies are much appreciated!

That sucks, man.. Trail badges are one thing, punk *** vandalism is another... Maybe lightly sand with high grit paper, or sanding block, prime and repaint with rattle can? Got a pic?
Or maybe a body shop.. If ya got the $crilla.. :/

Is it the header panel or grill. Reason being the header panel is fiberglass on our 01s. Get some

If the scratch is real deep, you'll likely have to sand it out and possibly use a filler.

Don't forget primer and clear coat if you go that route.
I have never used the touch-up paint pens for scratches. It might work for you.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Including the joking ones. It's actually on the hood itself, litterally an inch or two from the front of the truck. A couple other cars outside got the exact same thing. No idea why, and I live in a good neighborhood. Looks like it was just some idiot or kid looking to cause trouble.
If there was a quick touch-up that would make it look half decent I would do it, but I don't think it bothers me enough to sand it down and all that. Sounds like a few of you think that is necessary here. Does anyone by chance know what a body shop may charge to fix a scratch accross the hood? Again, the scratch is only to the primer.
Thanks again everyone!
