someone has to be able to help.
i stoped driving my jeep months ago do to it always dying at stop ligghts.. now thats its about to be the rainy season i want to drive her again so im trying to fix it.
i think i may have pinned the problem at a bad or weak alt. but i wont know for sure till i can take it to the auto parts store after work tommorow.
the reason i suspect the alternater is becouse when im driving the volts is at about twelve but when i stop it drops to nine, and if i turn hard when going slow it drops to almost zero and just about dies... does it sound like thats the problem? i have tryed a new battery and it does the same thing. i think the only reason my battery didnt die is becouse its a new deep cycle or whatever.

take your alternator off and have it tested at a parts store. free test.
if your alt is bad, it will kill your new battery eventually.

If you have access to a voltmeter you can check the alt on the car. The battery should read approx. 12.4v with the engine off - with the engine running the same test should show 14.Xv approx if the alt. is working as it should.
If it doesn't give those readings then get the alt. checked out, if that's fine I believe there is a fusible link in-line between the alt. & battery...if that collapsed the power just won't be getting through...replacements are cheap & easy to do. Good luck.
