Default some symptoms of a leaky manifold

I am hoping someone can help me shed some light on this. I believe I have a leak and I am having a hard time narrowing it down. I have been reading that a vac leak will cause high idle. I have the opposite. When I start up the jeep idles at 1k and if I tap on the gas it acts like it wants to stall or misfire. I have to let it warm up a little before I can drive. I can hear a whistling noise so I believe there is a leak somewhere. After warming up it will idle at around 500 or 750 or whatever the second hash mark is on the RPM guage. Its driving me crazy because it has an unstable idle and what I guess is a misfire in the morning. I have tried so many things and now I am about to break down and take it to a mechanic. Any thoughts or opinions.
