just wind some plummers ptfs tape around the treads on the sensor but should be ok without

Be very careful removing and re-installing the temp sender.It is a very,very soft brass and will break pretty easy.

Thats what this is.It operates the temp gauge only.It has one wire on it and is on top of the head at the back on the ds.

OO, so basically the two units are the same, except one plugs into the housing and the other into the back of the head..

With anything you do to the engine block make sure to put anti seize on the bolts. it will save you a headache later on..........

does anyone know where I can get a temperature sending unit? Everytime I look it up, it just gives me the coolant sensor that mounts in the housing

I bought mine at Advanced.It's like $13.69.

according to the haynes manual it's called the coolant temperature sending unit. autozone calls it part #SU326...
