Default Snorkels?

Thinking about installing a snorkel on my 1998 Cherokee classic was told I would have to relocate my window wash reservoir, other then that any other downsides to installing one. Any brands better then others? Thanks

I run a home made cowl snorkel and it works great. As for the kit based ones try to find one that isnt made from fiberglass. If it gets hit it'll just fall apart.

build one of these , i personally dont like the look of a snorkel so i did it this way , it all depends on how deep of water you plan on running through , but most situations this is more then fine

snorkels are fine if you in the everglades swamps otherwise pointless most wheelers see less than 3ft of water and if you need the snorkel you need some serious water proofing.. i did the cowl intake just this weekend i'll have pics soon..

I wouldnt say pointless. Theres a trail close to my place that I almost hydrolocked because i thought it was less than 3 feet. turned out to be 4 feet deep once I sunk into the silt a little.

yea theres deep water everywhere , lots of it out here in southern nj , but i have the cowl snorkel and never had an issue , of course water proofing everything else under the hood as well , but no matter where you wheel at your gonna come across some deep water sooner or later , i hyrdolocked my motor twice before i learned my lesson and im not a big fan of deep water at all

My only concern with the cowl intake is how you start the engine if the cowl is filled with snow. lol.

I'm going with the ebay snorkle personally.

From what I've read and seen with the cowl the water that DOES get in just drains down the cowl instead of into the intake but that subject is debatable.

so I've been told. I have noticed some people run in out of the cowl like a snorkel but i'm not sure about a big piece of PVC just sitting there.
