I made a pretty sweet plan for my XJ when I was still debating doing that. It was lost when I had to reformat my PC.

Basically it involved having a short stack(about 2 inches up through the cowl) that had a a cap on a joint that would slip on for regular driving then. Then I had a second piece that was an extension that could go between the cap and the small stack, thus extending it another 20 inches or so above the hood.

It was a pretty bad *** design.

Different for sure, although its about as abstract as pacaso's art. lol

Yeah, very similar except I had designed it to have a fitting where you could swap the top off and put in an extender to be much higher.

I do like that Idea but does it require leaving the factory air box? mine got taken off by the previous owner but he did give it back to me.

No actually I combined a couple peoples designs in mine. One of which was turning the intake tube that comes off the throttle body and attaching a steel tube to go over top the valve cover then have a canister and a cone filter inside then another tube goes into the cowl and out as shown in my drawing of awesomeness.

Alternatively you could put a Cone filter underneath the "cap" on the hummer style intake.

something like this homemade cowl one is cool maybe a little shorter so not to block your view
