Check out this build by Truckntractorhick, he smoked his tail lights himself. It also shows a Grand Cherokee alternator.

VHT Niteshades is cheap and easy. Plus, if it's to dark you can just wetsand and reclear till you have it where they still look good and can still be seen fine. This is mine before I sanded them down a bit more.

Although I think they look nice, I personally would not do it. Because I don't want to give the local law enforcement any reason to stop me. There's good and bad people in every profession. And unfortunately our police dept. has a high percentage of bad people.

Default looks cool but illegal

The taillights and turn signals cannot be smoked legally in our state the paint over the lens destroys the required reflective properties of the OEM assemblies and cops are writing tickets for it.

Who's side are you on? My dad is a cop and he agrees with the public, laws like that are only there to generate revinew, if he can see the lights at night and while brakes are applies he won't stop you. Also he has tinted lights on his GMC, he don't care neither do the people who tint them. Neither should you... its their car, they can do as they please as long as it doesn't hurt the public.

except in high fog / snow fall scenerios its hard to see the brightest led brake lights let alone some poorly painted stock tail lights.

It should be written in the law that if you are involved in an accident where your lights are smoked or painted, due to the other persona inability to see you. That you and your insurance company are at 100% fault, even if you are rear ended. Its stupid, it looks stupid, you arent nightrider. Knock it off.

so lame, if you knew what you were talking about the VHT Nightshades is a transparent paint, meaning light shines thru it. Therefore when light goes thru the lens it still reflects off the inside. Same reason my lights look solid black but still shine just as bright. Ive never once been pulled over for my tint on the lights. I have been pulled over for snow mud and all kinda other stuff on them but never once has a cop said anything about the tint.
