Default smoke in valve cover

can anybody help me i have a 1993 jeep cherokee 4.0L motor redone and there is smoke in the valve cover and it wont stay runnig,please help!!

That is not enough info for anyone to even make a wild guess on. When you state "redone" what is that exactly? What does / does not happen? What diagnostics have you performed?

Give us some hard facts and numbers & we can help you.

He probably needs to pull the valve cover and verify oil is getting all the way up there.

okay it has been overhauled it will run but will not but idle pump the gas pedal and it runs and after a few secound the smoke comes and it will dies. i have connected it to a computer and comes back its ok. and i will pull the cover and check it out . thanks

So, was the distributor removed and reinstalled in this process?

Yeah, sounds like timing is off. Well, its at least a good place to start.

Check ccv. It'll even do it if you put oil in without a funnel and it gets in these ports in the underside of the valve cover.

ok the timing is correct and im geting oil on the valves and it still smokes and dies after a few secounds.

Crank case ventilation. It's the grommet/elbow off the top rear part of the valve cover. GO to my thread labeled smoke in valve cover/pcv and click the link in the responses.
