Default Smell of gas inside car

just had my fuel pump replaced. I park my car in my garage. It smells like gass inside and outside the car. There's is also a small hole on my muffler. What could the culprit be? There's no sign of liquid petrol leaking anywhere..

They may not have tightened down the soft lines between the tank and filter or filter and hardline. You're going to need to turn it on and start crawling underneath and check......or take it back the shop that did the work and have them figure it out.

If it was just a pump on a 92 they shouldn't have had to drop the tank so they shouldn't have jacked with the vent lines or filler hose or anything.

Gotcha.

But I do agree with your recommendation. Clearly, it's on the shop to make it right.

It's probably the pump lock ring is not seated correctly. There's 3 tabs that have to go under the ring to secure it and they probably missed one.

A hole in the muffler isn't going to cause a raw gas smell but that does need to be fixed for safety reasons.

I looked under the car and theres no sign of gas leaking, even the top of the pump. And it also doesn't smell under there.

An exhaust leak isn't gonna smell like raw gas as stated, and it doesn't have to be leaking to smell it. On my Mazda the gas leaks when the tank is more than half-filled but I can smell it all the time with it parked in the driveway.
