The unibody will hold up, but it will be a pain in the a$$ I'm still ironing out all my little bugs

Going to cost you big time. There is just about nothing you will end up saving. Planning to use your stock tranny? If you are going to use a 305, you might as well use a 5.7 instead. You will be happier for what it will cost.

im not too sure yet but im toying with the idea but i might just pull the drive line from an s10 or a blazer. im not too concerned about the money cause we all make extra when we deploy, i just dont want the head aches that come with doin it myself, but basically if i got an old 350 with the rest of the drive line i dont think it will be too hard since on the older ones everything was mechanical for the most part but i dunno yet its still just an idea im tossing around

You could use a 350 with a 700R4 and 207 tcase. The only disadvantage is that it has a very long tail housing and I am not aware of a SYE for it.
