Slow Start Up
I just noticed this a few days ago but my xj has been pretty slow to start up. I'm running a pretty big sound system and CB so I know theres a lot of power being used. Is this just a new battery problem or should I be checking other sources for the problem? I'm a newbie so please be gentle.
P.S. I looked at my battery and the terminals look pretty corroded

Connections are critical.
Remove the battery cables. Clean both the cables and the posts until they are SHINY.
You can buy a commercial battery cable cleaner from any parts store for a buck or too or you can just use something like sandpaper or steel wool. Be sure to get "inside" of the cables; the part that contacts the posts on the battery.
Then be sure the cables are nice and tight when you reconnect.
Let us know if that helps!

After cleaning grounds, if that doesn't help, take the battery on over to any auto parts store and get it load tested to see if it is performing up to par.

I would definitely use some terminal cleaner.
my started solenoid went out over the period of a month.
One day it just started taking longer and longer to start, untill it was going on like 6 SECONDS.
and then one day, it just wouldnt do anything.. no crank, no click nothing... hit it with a pipe. BAM started right up.
after I replaced the starter, it would start like my chevy ( within a second of initial cranking )
good luck mate
