Stock size tires (new) Drifts side to side, constantly moving steering wheel to keep in a straight line going down the road.

How about the steering stabilizer?

Also, check your steering shaft for play in the joints.

I Have A '00 That Does The Same Exact Thing. It's Really Bad When You Hit Potholes, Pulls You Towards The Hole. I Took It To Get the Alignment Done But It Didn't Need It. I Replaced My Steering Stabilizer, Still Tracks Where Ever it Pleases. Last thing I Do Is Gonna Replace All The Bushings.

(Sorry 'Bout The hijack)

I could be wrong but someone told me that some tires the way the tread is and how soft the rubber is it will make the truck pull. The tread pattern can pull you based on the wear of the road and the softer rubber will make you feel a swaying motion on the rear. I had this happen to my old work van. Had to have the tires changed a second time to fix my problem. Just my 2 cents

I've had some wander in all four XJs we've owned. The front ends were and are solid.

I had a similar problem, and found that my lower ball joints were shot. It's weird because everything felt tight while the steering knuckles were in place. I also got an alignment with no mention of anything being loose. It wasn't until I took it all apart that I found out how crappy my lower ball joints were.
