Default A slightly confusing overheat problem

Hey guys I have an 87 Cherokee that likes to run a little wondering if I could get some help with it. It fluctuates between about 215 to 230 or so. But when I turn the ac on it stays right at 210. Also my heat is only warm. any connection between the two? And ideas at all guys? Thanks

Is it doing this while driving or idling? 1st step verify temp, with a point-n-shoot temp gun. I suspect if you're overheating at idle then your fan clutch is suspect. 2nd What is the age/condition of the cooling system. Your heater core more than likely is causing, the heat issue, or lack there of. Probably needs to be flushed.

The heat rises slightly when at idle and the temperature has been verified with a temp gun. The thing that is weird to me is it cools down when the ac is running. I plan to get it flushed ext week and see what happens

The XJ has an Auxiliary electric fan that comes on when the A/C is on or reaches 218°F. How old are the main components of the cooling system(Water pump, Tstat, Fan Clutch)?

I have no idea. They haven't been replaced since I owned it and the PO bought it for parts but never used any. And btw my auxiliary fan is spliced directly to power so it's always on when the jeep is running.

The fan stays on at all times regardless of temp
