Mine had some knocking at startup when i bought it. I took the oil pan down the other day and all the rod bearings are worn out. I plastiguaged new ones and my clearances are from .003 to .006. needless to say i still have some at startup. thick oil and no maintenance doesnt do a engine good. Its a trail truck so im gonna run it til it comes apart. If you drop the oil pan to do a pump i would check the rod bearings, torque back 33ftlbs
