Default Skyjacker vs Rusty's

I was looking at the Skyjacker 6" kit then I came across the Rusty's kit. I can get a better deal on the Rusty's, but I am not afraid to spend more if I am buying better quality parts. Can anybody direct me to people that have either one of these kits so I can see what they think of them? Thanks for the help!

Stay away from Rusty's they are cheap for a reason if money is not the issue then go with Rubicon Express 5.5 lift. You should love it.

Are Rusty's products crap? Just wondering, because the Jeep I bought has a Rusty's 3.5" lift on it right now. I have to replace the rear leafs anyway (it was the AAL package, starting to sag) and if Rusty's are actually that bad, I may as well just save up and get a full new lift.

I never owned Rusty's but there reputation is bad from what I have read on forums. So I try and buy from companies with good feedback.

I like their coils but thats it. I swapped my rear springs out for 3.5" RE and then added a 1.5" shackle and it flexes like a dream.

I wouldn't advise running a 6" short arm kit period, regardless of vendor. The bumpsteer at those angles will be insane.

I was outbid on ebay years ago on a RockReady (Skyjacker) 6" kit by $1. Best auction I ever lost .

Another issue with the Rockready kit to be aware of is it uses a cradle subframe that mounts to your D30 front axle. Not an issue if you never plan to upgrade your axle. If upgrades are planned, you will need to spend $$ to address this.

Hope this helps,
Kent

Forgot to qualify my statement. This applies if the rig is a DD. A trail rig would be a somewhat different story.

I am the "not so proud" owner of a Rusty's 4.5" lift kit. I will tell you right now the leaf springs are WAAAAAY to stiff and the coils though nice and flexy are weak. I lost a full 1.5" by adding a bumper and winch. I've had this lift kit on my XJ for 3 years now and I'm still waiting for the rear leafs to "break in" and start to flex a little better. I've even added a rear tire carrier and 32" tire on a stee rim, a trailor hitch and a stee gastank skid plate since installing the lift. Those leafs springs haven't given an inch. I suppose Rusty's should sll them things for full size trucs used to tow. They would be awesome for that. Not so much for a rig I'd like to have good flex. I've heard all good from guys who buy RE. Though a little more spendy, you get what you pay for. I wish I'd gotten the RE 5.5" over and over.

Rusty's is great quality for their Long Arm kits. I had a Rubicon Express on my TJ but Rusty's cater to the XJ crowd specifically.

I also wouldn't do a 6" short arm kit, period either like someone else said too.

I had the Rusty's 3" lift, and now have my 8.5" coils and 6.5" leafs from Rusty's, along with some other suspension components and I have never had any problems with anything. Hell, Rusty's has hooked me up on stuff, probably because I keep buying stuff, but I'm not complaining. Some people could have some problems, but others don't...so pretty much all I have to say is buy what you want...to each their own.

Correction the cradle is on the 8" kit. Not applicable to the 6".
