Skyjacker shocks.
So, to avoid to horrors of rear shock bolts during my lift install, i was going to take my jeep in to get the shocks put on, then bring it home and install the shackles/coil spacers myself. This is a skyjacker 2" kit. The only problem i see in doing this is, the front shocks are made for 0-3" of lift, while the rear are made for either 0" of lift , or 1-3" of lift (which is what id need). Would it hurt to have these rear shocks installed prior to the shackles and only driven on a bit before the shackles are installed?

nope, won't hurt anything. just don't go wheeling on the way home. haha
but seriously, why not try the shock bolts yourself first. if you break one, then decide to take it in. if you're gonna, they're gonna.
xj's drive pretty good with one or no shocks installed. so driving it to a shop would be no problem.
but it's not that big a deal if you break them. there are many ways of rectifying the situation.
i've had friends just cut access holes in the hatch, drill out the broken bolt, then screw a plate in for later access.

Well mines a 96, has 206,000 miles and has been in michigan its whole life, so rusting is an issue. Plus, my neighbor will be doing the shocks, and he will prolly do it for free or next to nothing for me. Also, i dont have that great of a selection of tools at home.

can't be much worse than our canadian winters. you'd be surprised tho.
mines a 90 and never broke a bolt, yet. but my buddies 00 broke all the upper shock bolts in the rear.
