Default Skipping all over the road

My jeep has been a pretty good runner since I had gotten it. But there has always been a point in the steering wheel where I hear a pop somewhere in the steering linkage along with a dead space where there is no movement with the tires when I turn the steering wheel. It is probably a 3 -4 inch area in the stearing wheel of dead space before the tire move. I have jacked up the jeep and tried to move the tires but they seem to be solid. Does anyone else know what I can do to try and diagnose where this play is coming from. It also seems to skip the tires in a new direction if I am driving over 25 mph and hit a bump.

Check the bolt that holds the steering wheel on, mine came loose and would cause the same symptoms

this is prob an old post but anyway. i saw a guy on utube, he starts jeep has some move steering wheel while he watches the steering linkage move. I did this an it seems that the bracket that holds the trackbar is wobbled out a little and the whole bracket flexs. so im going to start with the trackbar then the baracket, also going to try a bigger bolt.

yep i just replaced my track bar to fix death wobble (to no avail). I had to remove the bracket to get to the ball joint because it was so badly corroded and covered in mud. after i changed out the track bar and got everything bolted back up, i noticed a popping sound. i had the lady turn the steering wheel while i inspected and it was the bracket and the bolts holding the bracket flexing and shifting. I tightened them down with a breaker bar. I've been contemplating welding the bracket to the unibody...
