hey guys i bought a factory skid plate for my jeep xj from a member here on the forum i tried looking online for pictures but only see aftermarket ones, does anyone know how to install it i cant seam to get the bolt holes to line up with anything is there hardware that im missing??
I remember removing the one I got from an 87. Looking at it as it dropped,
I thought just how the heck will I remember how this goes back on?
That was about 5 years ago and it's gonna be a 6 pack Saturday to figure it out again..
Need a nutsert, not sure what size, I've been meaning to check on that since I need to install mine too. I also believe it's just one bolt to the "frame" and two attach to the trans crossmember.
Google "home made nutsert tool" to save a few bucks, no need to buy a tool to install one single 'sert.

I work at a mechanic shop so I probably have the tool here now I just need to figure out where exactly the bolts go
Transfer case skid plate and his mail was full last time
Yes Nutserts are needed. Here is a screen capture of the install for a 98. I know the gas tank skids are different on 96 and older XJs, not sure about the TC skid plate.
I have some nut serts in your want them. They are ridiculous expensive. I bought some from Black Magic. Had to buy 6 at a time. PM me if you are interested.
Bought them for this same reason just haven't got around to it yet.
