Question silencer removal

does removing the silencer in the stock air box do much of anything?
is it bad in anyway, since the charcoal venturi is in with it, which works with the vacuums for the brakes? or should i just yank that bad boy out?
thanks

The go Jeep website says it supposedly gives a 2hp gain and a tad better millage with it removed with no ill effects reported
