This morning i tryed to start my jeep and it wouldnt so i had to use a screwdriver to the starter to get it started , started fine well when i got in i shut my door and it shuts off every time. Well i got it to if i hold the gas a little it wont shut off when i do but now it sounds like **** and then i smell gas bad

Hi, I'm trying to think what it could be......Try tightening the grounds in the engine compartment and also on the starter tighten up the nuts then unplug and replug the computer on the fender and post back...Tj

 

about to try the grounds now and where is the computer still trying to figer that out and already checked starter

 

yeah. it deff sounds like a loose ground. because the buzzer button could make it short if the ground was loose or dirty. start the jeep. then push the button in by hand. i had kinda the same problem once. so i just wire brushed all my grounds. and by terminal cables. and it seemed to work aight.

 

I was having a similiar issue with mine, Found out their is an ignition wire running down the back of the block to the solenoid that seems to be the problem, It comes out of the plastic harness and rubs up against the engine, once i move it off the engine it seems to work ok. Only happens when the engine is cold though it seems

 

see it wont start half the time i have to redneck start it
