Only problem with that is the starter will suffer an early death. Maybe not now, but sooner than later. It's already contaminated with oil on the inside which will wreak havoc.

Don't wanna replace it? Remove it, disassemble it, clean it with Brake Kleen, and reassemble. Easy.

 

Gunk engine degreaser.

Buy 3 cans and go to a local quarter wash (diy car wash place).

Spray everything down with cleaner, and go at it with a pressure washer. Heated water is the key to melting engine grease off - with my buddies diesel heated pressure washer, I can literally MELT 20 year old stuck on Gunk with little to no chemical degreaser

Wait for a day where it in the 40's. Cover electrical components with foil or plastic bags. The passenger side of the motor is really prone to oil vapors and thick deposits.
Warm engine bay is also a must. The exhaust/block should be cool enough to touch, but with enough heat saturation to keep temperatures up above freezing.
