Unhappy Should i buy another xj?

Well i found this xj http://louisville.craigslist.org/cto/2458902296.html
And i was going to offer 500 Would to be worth to pull the trany out mine Its a 1993 sport 138k and the when 4lo or 4hi are engaged it make clunk noises and and rock back and fourth with no power when going up step hills but in 2hi its works fine so mabey doing the swap would be worth it mabey this one is clean but its a four door and sat for 6 years Going off topic but could my Ecu reset and is relearning the cherokee and thats why the 4wd not working its has the np231 tcase.

Mine is much uglier, and I paid $750 + taxes (bought it from a small time car lot). But my trans is still going. Even at that, go pull a trans from a scrapper... and still be in less than $1k?

xj4 ... if you in louisville then I am 3 hours away and have a tranny you can have. it does not have a transfer case on it and it has high miles but works without any trouble. Its from a 98 and is the Aisin AW. PM me

That is a really clean looking '89, but RENIX, so many of the parts aren't straight swaps to your '93. You should be able to find a trans at a JY for $250 or so.

It sounds like your '93 needs a transfer case, and it has nothing to do with your ECU.

Well he does not have it any more the quest continues to find a 2 door.

Why6 are u wanting to change out the tranny when your problem from what you said has to do with the 4WD part . That would mean you have a problem in the transfer case-cableing or your front part of ur 4WD.

The transmission itself is the same if were a 2WD
