Run far and fast, its stolen! If a locksmith really came out and messed it up, he would have fixed it.

He says it's a friends, so the odds of it being stolen are slim, at least if it were my friends. If it runs and drives, it's a good deal. Coach

Provided he can cough up a title, lol.....you could swap in an ignition cylinder + key from the scrapyard. Or the entire column if you prefer.

Sounds really suspicious. I would leave it alone.

Sounds like a sweet deal assuming he can come up with a title.

I bought my red one from a friend for $125, it was my daily driver for almost 2 years. They were the original owners, had all the maintenance records. But yes, I'd make sure he has the title and the VIN matches.

as what most previously said, make sure he has the title for it, make sure the title is in HIS name, make sure the VIN matches the title, call your local PD or Sheriff's office for a "VIN Verification" and then swap your steering column or ignition switch.... then you can get a locksmith (different than what he used, mind you) to re-key the jeep so that all the locks are matched... while the locksmith is there he can make you as many copies of the key that you could ever want too... at a charge of course.

Friends are Friends and Business is business . This is business. Clear signed off title with no lien holders on it. Always compare VIN. Notarized if required in your state. Then hand over money, not before. Doing this will keep friends. If the title is in his name, can't be he's sell a stolen XJ.
