95 jumpy rpms Im thinking trans?
Hello all, AWESOME site! Been lurking and using this site for awhile, been able to solve all my problems reading old threads until now.
Got a 95 Cherokee sport, 4x4, auto trans, flippin love the thing and after just getting back home its time to tend to its needs. My girlfriend uses it as her DD and has mentioned something about the transmission before and I finally realized what she was talking about!
Jumped on the highway the other day and around 70 MPH it felt like it was chugging, the rpm gauge kept jumping 500 RPMs or so. Any ideas, I need to do some more messing with it, Im not sure if its the TC locking and unlocking, the jumping in the rpms is very quick but as soon as I let off and get back to 60-65 it stops.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice!!

Does it idle OK? Not sure from the title of your post...
Does sound like the TCC might be locking and unlocking. Might be a dead spot in your TPS. You should see a steady, smooth voltage change if you measure the output wire while opening the throttle by hand. Key on, engine off.

Yes it idles great, sorry probably should have put rpms instead of idle, I was a wee bit tired last night ha.
It only starts jumping with you get up around 70mph other than that no prob.

after going for a drive the more I think its the TC unlocking and locking, guessing this is a computer issue or connection? or am I looking at having to replace it?

These were my symptoms. CEL would be on somedays, some not. The idle was rough somedays and other days not. On those rough idle days, it felt that the transmission was shifting weird. I'd be on the highway and cruising in the wrong gear. I though it was a tranny problem. But Autozone was able to pull the code (forgot which one,0123?) and it said either TPS OR MAF. TPS was cheaper to replace, and it fixed it
