Im curious if anyone here has had an issue with an automatic transmission where it will act like it is in neutral while driving. I was passing someone the other day and my rpms were a bit higher than normal causing the trans to pop out of gear and rev up as if in neutral. After letting the rpms settle back down for a second (literally a second), it was back in gear as if nothing happened
Start with the basics like checking the fluid level and adjusting the throttle body cable. https://bleepinjeep.com/video/having...v-cable-first/
Was it more like it downshifted because you had it floored, or did it seem like it was truly in neutral and revving freely? It might have been hard to tell if it dropped into 2nd or even 1st. Is it shifting normal otherwise? The good news is that this transmission is generally very robust mechanically, and 99% of the problems are relatively easy to fix electrical problems. The problems are often the shift cable, the throttle position sensor, shift solenoids, or damaged wiring. It's almost never the transmission computer.

The TCM under the dash isn't sealed in any way, so if it's wet or full of dirt, that could be your issue... There's also a pair of plugs under the hood, back by the firewall on the passenger's side, just to the outside of the dip stick for the transmission. Clean and inspect those...
