Default shifter question

Have a new t-case that im hoping to install tomorow, however my old busted t-case is a 231, and the new one is a 242. I dont have a new gear shifter yet, can i put it in and have it work with the older gear shifter for a while? or is it possible to put it in and then change the gear shifter later?

Think it will work with the old shifter. Not 100% sure but think it will.

The actual shifter arm is the same for either T-case. The difference is in the linkage that connects the shift arm to the T-case. IIRC, the one for the 242 is slightly longer than the 231 model to be able to get to the additional T-case position.

95 is the switch year for the vacuum disconnect.. Does your front axle have it?? How do you plan on controlling it if you do??

You can do that with a lawnmower throttle cable or a old fashioned choke cable.
