for an xj auto stick you have to have a button on the **** for it to work. not like manuals.

just bought a cue ball to make into a shifter **** for a 1998 xj stick shift. thinking of gluing it on... any one got any better ideas? i thought about using a set screw but drilling on the "side"/off center of a round object is super hard...

just so every one knows i just got mine off!! (1998 xj) you pop the cap off (the thing with the shift pattern off). there is a nut under it use needle nose pliers to get it off. then the know unscrews very easy!!! the shaft is either 5/16 to thread or 7/16 to clear for gluing...

I have a 95 and my shift **** spins. It won't come off either, it just spins. I want to stop it from spinning but I don't want to replace it.

Suggestions?

so unless you PO was like me. the plastic inside the shifter breaks and I had to glue mine back together. it is now permeant on the shift handle..

if not a big box end wrench will turn it off. it is a bit tuff to do tho

edit i see you got it working.

Looks good!

Yes pull hard straight up and it comes off. Just a clamp holding it on
