Shift into 3rd, Cold vs Warm (ax-15)
1999 Cherokee, 4.0L, AX-15
Posed a question in the "ask a question" thread, but I want to organize any responses so I don't miss them.
I have an AX-15 shifting issue that changes when the jeep is cold vs warm.
Clutch: If the previous owner told the truth, clutch should have 20,000 miles on it by now.
Fluid: Redline MT90 GL-3 synthetic (10,000 miles)
When cold
Shifting is normal and smooth through all gears
When warm
Shifting into 3rd requires a slow release of the clutch and some gas to achieve a smooth (but slow) shift. If the clutch is released at a "normal" rate, the engagement is rough/jerky. If the gas is not added, engine rmps drop too far. The throttle helps keep engine rpms at the proper speed and makes for a smoother shift into 3rd.
Can you elaborate on the vacuum leak. My symptoms dont exist when she's cold, but they appear just before reaching operating temps
