Default 98 laredo to a 99 sport

Need to put an engine in my 99 Jeep Cherokke sport. I have found one that has came out of a 98 Laredo. Will they swap? Is the trans bolt pattern the same?
Thanks
4.0L engine. Both are distributor motors.

The engines are different as are the acc. bracket locations for bolting up (different head) a better one on the 99.

Really? I thought they used the same head until later in the '99 MY, when they went to the dreaded 0331.

I have my 99 accessory brackets. Will they match the98 Laredo block and head. (It's not the 0331. Is there head numbers that should match? And will the transmision bolt to the block. I think I have the aw4?.

This is also what I thought. I do know that 00-01 are different because that is when they went with the 0331 head.

I think if it has coils it's the 0331 head. If it has distributor then it's before the bad head design was used. ?????i think??????

That's my understanding, too. Hopefully Fred will clarify what he meant.
