Default Severe idle problem

ok the heep has been running fine no problems at all.... today i took her out. and it was havin a nasty idle problem... it would idle at 2000rpm and teh drop to around 300. it would load up and die and then it would run so lean it spark knocked at idle. once you got it off idle it revved great and as long as you had your foot on teh gas it ran fine... but it would not idle eventually it would die and it would take starting fluid to get it back running again... so if you guys have any idea of where to start or anything please let me know...... its a 88 jeep cherokee 4x4 with 4.0l auto. thanks for the info!

i thought so too i unplugged it and it didnt change anything, but the tps just controls ur idle not ur air fuel ratio as well. so i would think it woudl be something else..... its runs like the timing is exremely retarted.... but im not sure where the jeep reads crank posotion... but im pretty sure its from the fly wheel. but i dunno if this is a symtome of a bad cps or not..... i was hoping some1 a lil more knowlageable than i would jump in here! lol

The CPS is located on the drivers side of the bellhousing. Check to see if its secure and not loose( tighten the bolts).

Also check the o-rings on your injectors. You can do this w/o removing them. Start the engine and wiggle the injectors to see if fuel will squirt out. If so, then the o-rings are bad, thus sucking in unwanted air.
