Agreed. Before I bought a krikit tension gauge, I thought it was tight. It squeeled... I bought a Krikit gauge like these:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...e%2Ck%3Akrikit
It was nowhere near being tight enough (80+lbs too loose). The gauge works well, I'd recommend anyone who works on cars to get one.

Thanks, I have heard that thry need to be tight, but I am worried about wearing out besrings in the things ut controls. I already had to vhange the wsterpump, and in the morning the p/s pump squeeks a little. Thejeep desler told me to sdjudt Iit so thr long portion between the wsterpimp snd the p/s pump has about 1/2 " of movement, then start the motor abd gurn on the a/c, if it squeals, adjust it till it judt dtops, that shiuld br thr tight tendion. So, we'll see. Thanks sgain.
