Default Seafoam question

Im going to put the whole bottle of seafoam in the gas tank and I was wondering How long does it take for my jeep to stop smoking after it has been added? Ive searched this site for seafoam and it seems almost every thread that pops up is about someone recomending seafoam so someone and that was that. I also looked on you tube and no one there has answered that question.

It usually doesn't smoke when added to the gas tank; only when introduced to the intake manifoled (IE throttle body/vacuum lines). If it does smoke when introduced into the gas tank, I would recommend buying another bottle for the intake manifold. I just seafomed my intake yesterday, and boy did she smoke! It stops smoking usually after 10-15 minutes of restarting it. Remember with seafoam - the more it smokes, the more it needed it.

it does not smoke if you put seafoam in the gas tank.
it smokes only if you put it through the intake... and depending on the cleanliness and how good you did it, it will smoke for a couple of minutes.
Just be carefull with that product and really follow instructions...

I used seafoam the first time. A third the can in the intake, third in the valve cover, third in the gas tank. Waited 10 min. started the truck.....and nothing...So I figured I did it wrong.. So I bought another can a week later..poured about half the can in the intake....the rest in the gas tank...waited 15 min. this time...started the truck and again...nothing. I my 88 with 245,XXX on it THAT clean??? Or am is something else wrong here..??

I did the same... nothing happened, no smoke at all...
I went back and used 1/3 more but this time poured it slowly in the throttle body waited and smoked for like 3 or 4 minutes

1/make sure the engine is warm
2/add seafoam little by little while keeping rpm's high so thta it doesnot stall
3/let rest for 10/15 minutes
start the engine again and rev it a couple of time or drive it like you stole it
(apparently revving over 3K rpm is allowing to distibute the product everywhere it is needed....

So do I dare try it again?? I've heard of people using something call BGK44 or something like that?? And the Techron fual additive. But i've also heard those fuel additives clog your filter. Any truth behind this?

I wouldn't know...
I tried again because I didn't know much... now I have done my homework and would probably not do it too much.
Take a look at your throttle body and se if it is really nasty.... mine was not too bad when I got it (89) and I figured that the jeep had been maintained OK before and that is why there was not much smoke

me and my buddy were thinking of trying this, me on my xj and him on his yota. Where all should we do it? just in the throttle body and gas tank? I want it to clean my injectors....also, what damage can it do to my jeep. It runs fine now, i just wanted to try it and see what it does. I dont want to replace any gaskets or cause leaks or anything. So if thats a possibility then i just wont do it.

Rule of thumb.. If it's not broken...don't fix it. Trust me on this one...I've broken hundred thousand dollar printers that way...lol..

There's plenty of youtube vids out there that show ya how to use SeaFoam.

The smoke is pretty intense on some of them. lol

Good Luck, Wooddogg.

I seafoamed mine and i got about a minute or so of smoke, put 1/3 in the tank, 1/3 in the crank case, 1/3 in the intake vacumme line and make sure its running when you pour it in and pour it into the intake until the jeep stalls. Mine never did so i just turned it off waited 10 minutes then cranked it and reved it to almost red line and only let it bounce off the limiter once, after that i changed my oil though, not supposed to keep it in there for long, it idled smother afterward and got a small increase in MPG's but i think it was worth it, only paid $7 for the can and if its done propperly theres no harm in it. Just my opnion though.
