Seafoam is like a little miracle in a can. I use the stuff all the time.
But if you don't know what you are doing. You need to research a little before you attempt it. You can cause a lot of damage to your engine if you apply it improperly.
I apply a half can once a year directly into my throttle body. And I drop a full can directly into my gas tank twice a year as part of my regular maintenance schedule. My Jeep runs super smooth, rock solid idle. No hesitation at all anywhere in the rev range.

You need to read up on how to use seafoam correctly. There are many videos on you tube as well. I always ran it through my vacuum line(from the brake booster), small amount in crank case(always shortly before oil change), and the rest in the gas tank. I also always put new plugs in after I ran seafoam through the vacuum line. More of a precaution on my part. I have seen if foul plugs. Just my .02 cents.

Hey guys, if you all did a search you would find that some of the people on this forum have complained about Seafoam taking out the O2 sensor. Now here is the thing. White smoke is not unburned carbon, that is black. It is just unused Seafoam. If anyone knows of a white form of carbon, let me know. Here is what the smog guys do here in CA before a smog check. They simply put it in the gas tank and drive it for a day or two. This is all you need to do to get rid of carbon in the combustion chamber. I have done it and verified it with a tear down afterwards. It is that simple and then you don't have to spend another $80 on an O2 sensor, or two if you have a late model XJ

Heres a story. I have a 1994 grand with a 318. 218k miles. Had it for two years, in those two years i put a o2 sensor, crank sensor, a front axle shaft, and front brakes on it. The PO took real good care of it, looked to have newer plugs and wires on it when I go. My avg. eco based on the DIC was 14.6, 16 on highway.
I seafoamed today at work, 30 mile comute one way. Reset after I foamed it. I got 20.6 on highway, 18.1 mpg combined. Now that was only 30 miles, and ***** footing it most the way, but I do have 31X1050, aftermarket steel wagon wheels, no lift, cut fender and bumper. Speedo is only off by about 4 mph. I will chime in after I get some more miles on it, but seemed to do a good job so far. ALSO it got rid of my detonation going up steep hills with 87 octane.
All seafoam does is clean the pistons and combustion chamber, which decreases detonation, cause it decreases hot spots. Hope everyone under stands this.

I royally screwed up, put it in the crank case and now have an oil pressure problem. it cleans too well and cleaned all the crud that was actually keeping my bearing tolerances tight,
so stay away from the crank case method just my experience and 0.02$. going to see if new oil pump/cleaning oil pan and all the crud out of it helps at all.

How long did you leave it in there? I only drive it with it in there maybe 20 miles. I have read that it does clean to well and will cause problems. Also read that its not too good for your rubber seals and could cause them to leak if left in the crank case too long. I also put it in my tank but only if I know ill be driving a bunch. Don't want it sitting in tank long either. I did a bunch of research before using it. Well worth reading. I have had zero problems with sea foam. Sorry to here what happened.

I ran seafoam in my old kia in the oil to clean things up a bit, never had any problems, been thinking it's time I do it with the jeep as well, but plan on doing it in the gas, the intake, and the oil as well. I am well over 300,000 miles thus far on my 98, and no major problems thus far. Buddy of mine just picked up a 98 grand cherokee with the same engine (I6) that had thrown a rod. He tore the engine down and is doing a rebuild, and found that the oil return holes that run thru the block were plugged with crud and gunk. PO must not have taken care of it very well with oil changes and maintenance.
