Default Sea foam? fluid swaps?

ok so I have heard the term seafoam all over the place on here. I imagine its along the line of cleaner/protector fluid. I have never seen it at any of the auto stores (I wasnt looking for it either). so what does it do? do they have different types for diffs, tranny, t case, and engine oil? I always buy this additive that I put in with my oil when I change it. It comes in a container with 2 sides so it mixes just as you add it and its supposed to clean, restore, and plug leaks. I always put octane boost or injector cleaner in with a new tank. my jeep treats me great as long as I keep up with preventative maintainance!

so here are my questions:
1. I havent changed my t case oil in about 2 years or so, diffs probably not in 5 years and im thinking I probably should. how hard is it to change those oils out? and how much if I do it myself? and is there anything I need to clean/lube?

2. i guess I just had one question

thanks guys! I just havent done this stuff myself yet and I would like to so that I can learn new things for the future!!!

the diffs take the covers off of them clean off all the sealant put on new rtv sealer let it set for a while then take the plug out the back and fill it with 80w90 to the bottom of it replce plug and thats it

tcase remove drain plug and fill plug(will drain faster this way) put drain plug back in fill to bottom of fill hole with Mopar Dextron II, or atf plus

all this can be done in your driveway in a couple hours

no, just dain it out get all the sealer off the axle and cover
that sealer, is that put on ahead of time and then wait to dry and then re attach or attach wet?
put on a fat bead on the cover and bolt it to the axle while it wet i recommend bolting it up as soon as your done putting the sealer on, and let it set for and hour before adding the gear oil

When you change your diffs, make sure you scrape off all the sealant left behind or else youll have a leak when you put it back on.
Get some break cleaner and spray the gears all over, it should be messy since its been five years for you.
Also it should only be like 40 bucks tops for both differentials. I bought 3 bottles of 80w90 for like ten bucks each, and bout 5 or six bucks for the RTV gasket sealer.
Theres a write up on this

sweet guys thanks a ton, I can understand the seal issue but the break cleaner? I mean thats great i'd love to clean my gears, how much residue/build up is on the gears and what is the method of cleaning? do I need to rotate the drive shaft and hose it out? or does that cause rust? just wipe out?

not much to it buddy. Jus spray away all over.
Im sure u can rotate them but i didnt,
Mine were dirty as hell even had dirt so yes i recommend break cleaner.

Now after you spray away jus use your hand to squigy out the puddle of break cleaner fluid that collects at the bottom of the carrier.
Make sure you do, Cuz im pretty sure break cleaner does not mix well with gear oil, might break down the lubrication elements.

So once you do this jus let it air out for like ten or 15 minutes.
Then clean it again. To make sure you get it all out.
Finally put the bead on the diff cover. bolt up and fill her up.

great links guys! so how do I know the limit of which my rear or front gears would nead to be replaced? whe I take off from a stop, i have a little bit of a lag to a jolt (TINY JOLT) when I hit the gas. would that be gears or u ount. I realize that this could be a totally diffrent thread and so its no biggie cuz its not really an issue. but any way, im hoping my gears are as pristine as carmen electra! well not as pristine down there on her, that would suck cuz my gears would be shreaded hhahahaha
