I would never put any money into a d35 period.
You can look around as some XJ 35's came with 4.10's factory, that would be a much better option. But if you are forced to run 4.10's then go with the XJ 44 and put your money into that.

As dabeast said you will need to change carriers to put 4:10s on the Dana 30. Keep that in mind and put a different axle under your Jeep other than a D35. You are polishing a turd there with the D35. JMHO.

theres no real reason whatsoever spending money on significant upgrades for a dana35 when that same money can be allotted to a new rear axle that will outlast and outperform that same 35 in every aspect conceivable.
for every 35 that has survived something it isnt known for, there are 40 of em that havnt.
have fun

i have personally seen dana35's break while backing out of a parking space, not to mention the great number of trail breaks.
just because one of your friends is still together doesn't mean you should do it.
trust me, it's a ticking time bomb. you can build up a dana44 for just as much money and have a much stouter axle.

yeah yeah yeah. I built a D35 with 4.10s and posi/limited slip.
Spent $500 on it and can't get $300 for the axle now. I was young and hadn't researched about D44 or D60 axles yet.
I still have that 35 sitting beside the barn with 3k of miles on it total and all new seals, full rebuild, new gears etc. WTF was I thinking

35s are time bombs, I ran one in my wrangler, welded with 37" iroks. wheeled it quite hard for three yrs waiting for breakage, In april it finally exploded wheeling at Rausch Creek. Now I am running a 44 out of an 87 XJ.

Just upgrade, your going to spend so much money to "upgrade" the 35 and its going to break. Then you will have to come on here and listen to all of us rag on you how we told you so. Do yourself and us a favor and just scrap that crap axle and upgrade.
